Immediately published, immediately withdrawn.Free presented a new optical converter for the Freebox Revolution for medium-dense areas. We, of course, threw ourselves on our keyboards to contact the operator in order to obtain crisp details.A mistake… since this small external box (to be connected to the back of the Freebox Revolution with a connector) was immediately removed from the support site, without any explanation.Fortunately, the Univers Freebox team has taken note of the entire presentation and explanations on the support site. While waiting for more information, if your Freebox is delivered with the following new optical converter (moderately dense zone), please proceed with the installation as indicated below:Remove the black cap from the optical converter:Also remove the white cap at the end of the blue connector of the optical jumper:Insert the blue end cap into the SFP module (this one looks like the first SFP model). It must be inserted correctly, as shown:The other end of the optical jumper (green end) must be connected to the optical socket in your home:Here the plug is connected to the red port.Pay attention to the polarizer (there is a specific meaning).Your converter is ready to be connected to the Freebox.Connect the black block in the Fiber slot on the back of the Freebox, connectors down, pushing in all the way:Now insert the power adapter of the optical converter into the 12V port on the back of the Freebox:You can now connect the FreePlug directly to the tip you have just inserted, in order to start the Freebox:All Freebox services operate the same way in Fiber mode as in ADSL mode.Free therefore seems ready to offer its offers in moderately dense areas. As a reminder, Free signed an agreement with Orange in 2011 to co-finance FTTH networks in less dense areas. This agreement covered around sixty urban areas (representing more than 5 million households).Note, the optical jumper (optical cable) presented above, and whose tips are blue and green, has the reference: SC-UPC – SC-APC.If the two ends of the cable are identical, it has the reference: SC-UPC – SC-UPC.These references can be useful if your optical wall socket (PTO) is too far from your Freebox: you are free to obtain a longer optical cable (or optical jumper) in order to make the connection.
