Over the past weekend, we lost both the Internet and television at home, and with the Canadian Grand Prix taking place, there was a problem watching it.The operator could not solve the problem until Monday morning, so we had to rely only on the mobile connection all weekend.Even if you do not have unlimited data, nowadays you can buy unlimited data for 24 hours for prices around 3 €, so it is possible to cover everything with wireless internet from your phone, which you can turn into a hotspot. However, the problem arises when you want to watch something on TV by sharing it via AirPlay from your mobile phone.Until this weekend, I had no idea that it is not possible to have internet from mobile data and use AirPlay at the same time. For AirPlay to work, you must have both your Apple TV or any other AirPlay device on the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone or the source from which you want to play something over AirPlay. At that point, however, a problem occurs because iPhone automatically starts using that Wi-Fi network to connect to the Internet, even if the Wi-Fi is not connected to the Internet.Unfortunately, it is not possible to explain the iPhone in any way that the network does not have the Internet and thus the whole streaming ends. The only way to solve the whole thing is to turn your iPhone into a hotspot and connect via Apple TV.This can only be changed by disconnecting the Ethernet cable from Apple TV, because otherwise, Apple TV only uses an Ethernet connection, even if the Internet is not available again because your cable leads to a router that is not currently connected to the Internet.Once you create an iPhone hotspot and connect it to an Apple TV, from which you first disconnect the Ethernet cable, you can also start streaming via AirPlay and everything works as it should. So you use mobile data to download content and at the same time display that content on Air TV via AirPlay. It is clear to me that this is not an article for the masses, but if you find yourself in a situation similar to the one we got into last weekend, you will need it.
