High-Tech Samsung's Galaxy Buds2 earbuds come at a premium priceAUDIO With its Galaxy Buds2 Pro headphones tested by “20 Minutes”, Samsung sets the bar high in terms of quality, but at a high pricePixel Buds Pro, Huawei FreeBuds Pro2, Sony LinkBuds S… there are a plethora of new headphones on the market this fall!Among them, Samsung's Galaxy Buds2 Pro want to play the little music of True Wireless Premium earphones with advanced functions, such as uncompressed hi-fi sound... but also a high price.Sold for 229 euros, the price of the Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones that are the benchmark, can they stand out?“20 Minutes” tested them.Gone is the bling bling and the lacquered finish of the Galaxy Buds headphones.The Buds2 Pro which succeed them sign the end of abundance and return to a much more sober design.From the shape of small pebbles to the matte finish (in lavender, white and anthracite black), they are according to Samsung 15% smaller than their predecessors.In-ear, taking place discreetly in the hollow of the ear, their wearing comfort is obvious.We tested them for several hours without being bothered by their presence.We also wonder how, in headphones that weigh only 5.5 grams each, it is possible to house electronic circuits, batteries, 10 mm and 5.3 mm speakers, as well as three microphones for the reduction noise !Please note: compatible with all smartphones, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro will only offer the best of themselves and all of their functions with a Samsung smartphone under the One UI4 interface (available from the Galaxy S21).They work well with an iPhone, but their manufacturer has not even seen fit to offer an iOS compatible application (the one named Galaxy Buds on the Apple Store is not compatible).It is therefore with the new Galaxy Z Flip 4 from the Korean brand and the Galaxy Wear application that we carried out our tests.Advancing their 24-bit Lossless compatibility (against 16-bit for more conventional headphones), the Bud2 Pro claim 256 times more data processed.Admittedly, uncompressed sound can be heard, but on condition that you can access compatible files (most platforms offer them) and have a smartphone that knows how to decode them.To say that we hear 256 times more details remains nevertheless more risky…Still, the listening quality of the new South Korean headphones is excellent.Whether 24bit or 16bit.There is a very good general balance, extremely present bass (without being overwhelming!), but also a lot of finesse in the more pointed registers, like the classic.If necessary, an equalizer present in the Galaxy Wear application allows for greater customization of audio settings.Compatible with Dolby Atmos, the Buds2 Pro also offer 360 Audio listening.
